Have you ever heard a song and wondered if one of your favorite idols had heard it? Wondered what their opinion on the composition, or the vocal style, or the vibes of the song would be? I do this all the time because, for me, there is nothing better or more intimate than sharing music. In this new series, I will be sharing a playlist dedicated to an idol I really admire.
This first one is dedicated to RM, Kim Namjoon, Joon, Jooni, Namu of BTS; someone I love dearly and look up to a lot.
“You’re making me weak, yeah
My mind’s awake all night daydreaming
When will you be mine?
You’re making my sleep wait
Thinking of you is taking all my nights away-way-way”
Let me explain this one. This song reminds me a lot of how Joon would talk about how he felt when he was younger and just starting to get into his work as a trainee/idol. I think that his dedication to constant self-reflection and reassessment is one of the things I admire the most about him. While its not necessarily a bad thing to live these lyrics, one should always be growing and evolving, something Joon is always doing. I think most people evoke the lyrics of this song at some point in their lives and then they may grow out of them. Long story short, this song reminds me of a starting point and of growth, which reminds me of Namjoon a lot.
Joon is always listening to a wide variety of music, and a lot of it tends to be on the softer side. When I listen to songs with sweet vocals, smooth instrumentals and beautiful melodies, I’m reminded of his sweetness and his affinity for similar music.
“I just wanna see
I just wanna see how beautiful you are
You know that I see it
I know you’re a star
Where you go I’ll follow
No matter how far
If life is a movie
Oh you’re the best part, oh
Then You’re the best part, ooh
You’re the best part”
“Your ambition won’t leave me alone
Tell me ’bout your dreams, tell me everything
Don’t nobody care about your heart like I do
Girl I’m down for you just the way that you’re down for me”
This song just has such a feel good vibe that I feel like Namjoon would really appreciate. It also just reminds me to keep grinding for my dreams and the things I want to achieve while remaining humble. I remember to trust in the process of life when I listen to this song, and I think this is something that Joon, and BTS in general, preaches often.
There’s not much to say about this song outside of…. this artist is a beast! His vocals are crazy! His range, the falsettos, the way he evokes certain emotions… its amazing!
8. Orion’s Belt by Sabrina Claudio
We know that Joon likes Sabrina, though we don’t know why yet. This song, lyrically, reminds me of something that Joon would appreciate and/or write. He has intense feelings/emotions that he tends to communicate in a metaphorical way that invites you to ponder on the meaning in a more intellectual manner.
These are just a few songs that remind me of Joonie in some way; whether it be in the sound, the lyrics, the delivery, etc. He’s such an amazing and hardworking person and this is one of the easiest ways for me to show my appreciation for him. Please love and support him and BTS!
