If you’re looking for a new group to get into this spring, look no further! 2018 is gearing up to be the year of K-pop idols who bring their instruments with them on stage, and new group, W24, are joining the fray. They just debuted with their first mini album, ‘Singing, Dancing’ last month, and fans are already charmed by their sweet and charming sound.
The five-member group comes to us from JARMY Entertainment. W24 means ‘World 24 hours’ and the goal of the group is to have the world hear their music all around the clock. Another great thing about this group is that they write and produce their own music, and I always support that in the industry! The band consists of leader and drummer Kim Jong Gil, vocalist Cheong Ho Won, keyboard player Park Aa Ron, guitarist Kim Yun Soo, and bass guitarist Park Ji Won. Rather than their good looks, W24 want to be known for their great music, and who can blame them? Check out the video for their title track ‘Always Missing You’.
The song is sweet and gentle and reminds me of fun road trips in the summer. I can imagine this song playing on the radio with the windows down on a lazy afternoon. Ho Won’s voice is clear and sweet, and I can tell there is a lot of potential here. This is the perfect kind of song for the spring and summer that are heading our way.
Another song on the album, ‘Love Me’, really had me smiling. I love the clapping in the intro and the slightly staccato beat. The baseline adds a little bit of groove to the song as well, just enough to make me want to dance. The group put out a video for the song on their channel in February and even though it is simple, I couldn’t help but enjoy it. The smiles on the members’ faces show that they are really enjoying themselves. I also really like this song and can see it making its way onto my playlist.
The rest of the album is just as good as these tracks. ‘Everything Is Fine’ has a slightly faster sound, with a catchy chorus that is sure to stick in your memory. The final track, ‘Heart Flutter’, is a song about falling in love and learning about the person you’re with. I think the slow sound shows another side of W24‘s talents and it rounds out the album nicely. What a great debut for this group! I can’t wait to see what they bring next.
