‘The Great Seducer‘, also known as ‘Tempted’, is a new show that is currently airing via MBC. It is about three well-off friends who are having trouble with not only their families but their personal lives as well. Then there’s a college scholarship girl who gets caught up in the three friend’s revenge games.
The show stars one of my new favorite actors Woo Do Hwan as Kwon Si-Hyun and Red Velvet’s Joy as Eun Tae-hee. It also stars Moon Ga Young and Kim Min Jae as the second leads, Choi Soo Ji and Lee Se Joo respectively.
It is hard to express what I love so much about this drama thus far. One thing is the contradiction between the brattiness and relatability of the three rich kids. They have material wealth, which that makes them very stuck up; but their familial problems are ones that most will be able to relate to. Min Jae, Ga Young, and Do Hwan are acting out and being mean but it is because they are being hurt by their home lives. It makes you want to hate them but also feel empathy at the same time. Then you have Eun Tae Hee, one without material wealth, who’s earned a scholarship, and is also having family issues. You immediately want to root for her success because of her hard work and relatable jaded personality.
You fall in love because, despite the meanness behind the plot, you can sense the sincerity of Joy’s and Do Hwan’s relationship. They look so freaking good together! And Joy has Do Hwan doing genuinely good things that he seems to enjoy. The show is only 6 episodes in so I can’t go too in depth. What I’ve seen so far has me convinced!
