For the first time ever, on November 25th, the Mnet Asian Music Awards kicked off in Vietnam at Hoa Binh Theater. The awards ceremony was hosted by Vietnamese dance-pop singer Thu Minh. Many K-pop groups were in attendance, including Wanna One, Seventeen, and popular solo artist, Samuel, who performed his songs Sixteen“, and Candy.
Wanna One took home the Best of Next award, presented by Hua Vi Van & Diem My. The group also took the stage to perform their songs Intro + Energetic and Burn It Up. Other awards highlights for the night included the Best Asian Artist category. The winners were Agnez Mo from Indonesia, Lula from Thailand, Aisyah Aziz from Singapore, and Tóc Tiên from Vietnam. An award was also presented for Favorite Vietnamese Artist to the talented pop artist Sơn Tùng M-TP.
Seventeen from Pledis Entertainment went home with the well-deserved award for Worldwide Favorite Artist and they performed “I Don’t Know, Well”, “Don’t Wanna Cry”, “Without You” and “Clap”.
The second part of the MAMA awards will be held in Japan on November 29th for another night of great performances and awards and will wrap up in Hong Kong on December 1st. Look out for our recap coming soon.
