Baek A Yeon, JYP Entertainment‘s solo female artist, has made a comeback with her third mini album, “Bittersweet” (달콤한 빈말). Keeping with the theme, the title track is named “Sweet Lies“.
This marks the artist’s first mini album and consists of six songs: “Screw You”, “Magic Girl”, “Just Friends”, “Jealousy”, “The Last of you” and the title track “Sweet Lies”. It’s clear to see that the album has a story line all about uplifting ones’ self after a break up.
Baek A Yeon’s previous works include her digital singles,”So So” and “Shouldn’t have“.
The MV for “Sweet Lies” is astoundingly aesthetic and meaningful when considering the lyrics about receiving hope from empty words and promises.
The song is full of jazzy flare, especially when coupled with the featured group, The Barberettes, who Seoulwave had the great pleasure of interviewing during their NYC performance.
The track “Jealousy” also features Park Jimin.
